I love the food here. Whenever I have to the chance, I will come here for the congee, fried noodles and steamed buns. Everything is delicious and fresh. I will highly recommend this place. Their service are great. The place is very clean. The price is great. Thank you

I was in a rush to gather some yummy buns for a friend's gathering and decided to stop by here after class. Of course I was hesitant because it was already 5pm but I figured, let me just go in quickly. To my surprise when I touch some of the container that the buns were in, it was actually still warm. The lady told me they just came out so of course I knew I lucked out but was still concern about the taste and quality. Well to another surprise, it tasted amazingly good. The bread was chewy, soft and the roast pork flavoring was perfect. It balanced well with the bread and meat. At my friends' place the buns were a hit as everyone complimented on it. I knew why they use golden as part of the name to their bakery because, this place is golden and it's a true gem. Would I come back here....oh hell yes!!! I can't wait to try their other bake goods considering how wonderful my experience was.

I like that this location of Golden Steamer has more food than just buns. I think their location at Mott St has slightly better buns only because the couple of times I had the buns here, the buns felt a little oversteamed and the bread was a bit too soft and wet so it would easily stick to my teeth. But i think in a pinch, and when i want more variety of food options, i would come to this one. I really enjoy the mini sesame and mochi dumplings even though they have less filling than the big ones you get in other bakeries. I sometimes just prefer something small and i like that you can mix so you can get a something sweet and savory. I also tried their rice rolls before and it isnt bad for something that is premade. I think they only make a certain amount and end up not selling more if they run out. I like that they make mini versions of the buns but they pack them in 3's or you can also get a box of the steamed buns or baked pork buns. I do wish they have singles for the mini buns, or maybe they do but I havent asked. I havent tried their rice, noodles or congee, but prices are really good for NYC prices if you want something quick to go. They dont have seats at the bakery so it is a definitely grab and go kind of place. The people there are also very friendly every time I have been. They are quick to help you take your order. They also have another register by the steamed buns and rice/noodle section, so maybe when it gets busy, depending on what you order, you can pay at either spots. I will say that the smaller buns dont have a lot of filling, but they make for a light snack if needed.

I've been to the original Golden Steamer for years and this is the second branch they opened selling more variety of bakery items. They also have the same pork buns as the old location. The egg tart is one of the best I've had in chinatown. The outer crust is flaky and buttery. The egg filling is also very rich and not too sweet. Prices are also slightly cheaper than other bakeries in the area. This place is cash only and service is very quick.

I didn't know they opened a location just around the corner but I was walking by and noticed a much cleaner, brighter store. A whole display on the counter for a variety of rice rolls. If I wasn't carrying so much stuff, I prob would've gotten one and they just brought out a new hot tray of egg tarts.. only $1.50..next time... I bought a box of big bao... and a box of pork with chives which I've never tried before. I haven't been to Golden Steamer in a long time since it needs some cleaning up so I'm glad this spot opened. Big bao was good .. saltier than the other place I get it from usually but most likely perfectly seasoned for most people.

I always come for the steam custard buns ($6.50 w/o tax) that come in a pack of six. (This always sell out so go early!). The steamed beef rolls ($3.50) were alright and was an ample portion. Service is quick and prompt. This space is way larger than the original location on Mott Street.

Love this spot. Quick grab and go for hot, ready made buns, as well as bun packs to take home and steam at a later time. Staff is swift. Cash only. Favorite include the egg custard, Big Bun, and Pork&Veggie bun. Quite affordable as well. No sit down area here, def more grab and go style place.

Cheap eats..Big steamed buns for $2.25 and they have steamed chicken over rice for $4. They have a variety of baked goods and steamed bread buns. Quick service but you have to get around the little old ladies that frequent this spot.

Golden steamer is known in the hood and has a much smaller store just down the block on mott street. This new second location has more choices for both buns and other hot food. It was well staffed and clean. I decided to get salted egg custard bun in a box of 6 for 6.50. Nice fluffy fresh and delicious. The meat and vegetable bun was tasty but needed more filling.

Golden grand opening of Golden Steamer! The former Kwong Wah bakery was bought out by the Golden Steamer around the corner, fully renovated and ready for business. It's very brightly lit with shiny new stainless steel fixtures and new cabinets. Food offerings have also been expanded with new steam tables in the back. Subtle changes to the regular baos are that the baked ones are smaller but packed in triplets, so a 3-pak goes for $2.25. The rice rolls are fresh made at the front of the house with your choice of shrimp, beef, pork or chicken and with optional egg. At the back of the house are additional cooked food offerings from hot steamed baos, congee, stir-fried noodles & vermicelli. Coffee & tea, both hot & cold are still ordered at the counter. Kwong Wah had always been one of my favorite Chinatown bakeries, but the new expanded Golden Steamer will be a great replacement.
